Getting Prepared!

In lieu of recent events in Nevada, it has got me thinking about what I can do better to prepare myself in case a large scaled earthquake hits Utah. Over the last year, we have tried hard to build up our food storage. With little space in our townhome we have turned to our garage for storage. Every time we’re at the grocery store or Costco, we end up buying a little more than we currently need to add to our storage. We’ve even bought approximately 30 containers of propane gas (the ones that attach to your camping stove) and we’ve stocked up on charcoal brickets and firewood. I know what you’re thinking---over the top and obsessive. I would agree! It’s become quite the hobby of mine and every time I add something to my food storage/emergency preparedness pile I feel less and less anxious about future events that may or may not happen.  However, if anyone has any suggestions to further my preparedness...I'm open to other ideas.

That is great! I think I have a cookbook made by a lady who uses her food storage for everyday meals that way none of it gets too old. I'll have to look for it. Also I love going to the dry pack cannery when they have sign ups at church because flour and sugar and stuff like that is so much cheaper.

I love going to the cannery too! In fact, a couple of weeks ago a friend of mine and I went in and packed for about an hour and then we bought all sorts of dried goods. We should go, just the two of us.

Wow you are inspiring! I should start doing that. We just moved into our house and now I have plenty of room. I love looking at your blog. It made me remember the times I came over to your house and hung out with you and your family. What a blast that was! You look like you are so happy, and are enjoying life! It is so good talking to you!

I love that you said, "RATS," on the comment you left about sewing! I thought my mom was the only one who said that!!!! ha ha ha it was cute. I wish that worked, but I will let you know next time when the classes will be, and if you wanted to take a beginning sewing class any other time over the next few months, and then go to the 2nd level sewing class with me that might be fun. We'll keep in touch about it! I love your food storage. Where did you get the shelves??? You and my parents, gosh, my dad has barrells of coal and water and is CRAZY prepared!!! I will have to follow your example and get prepared!
