Anxiety & Depression Sets In!

I was feeling like I missed the whole postpartum bandwagon until yesterday. I thought I had it all figured out. I was going to return to work part time and work some of that from home (seemed reasonable with the type of work I do and they've allowed previous employees to do such). I sat down yesterday with my boss and alas my position can not be switched to part time. So....that leaves me with two possibilities:

1. Go back to work full time--only getting to see my little peanut for 3 hrs/day before he goes to bed. Not to mention the whole pumping thing because our child hasn't been exposed to formula since the NICU.
or
2. Quit my job, sell our home and one of our cars and move in with the 'rents until the fall (that's when Tim will most likely be getting a better paying job outside of school and the one he's got already)

Dilemma! Advice needed.

You've got to do what you think is right. We know which choice I made and honestly the majority of the time I'm glad I work. Not just for the paycheck but I'm glad. I didn't think I'd ever be able to say that when I was on maternity leave but it's good. It's where I'm supposed to be right now and I'm happy I'm here.

I know it may be hard to look at the whole picture when you are in a cloud of anxiety but I think it is best to take a step back and get a clearer picture. Weigh the options. You are an amazing mom either way follow your gut, you will know what to do.

That stinks! Try spending 8 hours away from Myles- but go do something productive and see how you feel.

Here's the obvious answer-before making such a big decision: fast, pray and go to the temple.

Tell Tim to get a job out here in 'bama and you can chill with me every day! No seriously.

whoops...hit the send button a little too fast. I meant to add::

Ben's work is hiring, and I can have him send some info. Has he ever wanted to work for NASA?

Good luck! I know you'll do what is best for you and your cute little family.

Bianca---seriously send me some info because Tim is going to begin looking for jobs this summer. Also...I need you to add me to the safe list to view your private blog--for some reason it won't allow me. :)

Tough, Tough, Tough decision!!! Just listen to your gut (and pray hard) and do whatever you feel is best for Miles, whether that be work or stay home, both have their perks. Only you will know what is best for your family! Keep me posted!

Kirsten-I think you have been given some good advice. For me, I have learned (sometimes the hard way) to ALWAYS do what you are prompted to do. I have such a strong testimony of following the promptings of the Spirit. Heavenly Father would never lead us astray. And it always helps when you follow the promptings you get, to be able to feel peace about the decision you made. Good luck. I know you guys will make the right decision for your family-whether that is that you go back to work or that you stay home.

I think the best thing would be to go to work. You don't want to have to sell your home and a car and then end up living with parents. Plus, right now is not the best time to be selling anything. You will definitely miss Miles, but I think being away from him will only make you cherish the time that you do have even more. At least that's how I see it with my girls. I love my job and I love being around other adults and having adult conversations. I think many stay at home moms miss out on things like that. Not to mention the fact that you went to college and got a degree so that you could have a career. I also love the feeling of knowing that I'm bringing in a paycheck to help support us- it's empowering! Plus if Tim is going to be getting a job soon anyway, then you may only have to work temporarily. That's just my opinion. Hope that helps :) Good luck!

Oh Kirst that's so hard - I don't really have any advice except what everyone else has said - say your prayers listen to those motherly instincts and you'll know what to do. xoxo

Good luck making your decision. That is a shame that part time didn't work out. Is there a third option where you could work somewhere else?
