Baby Rescue Swimming

Infant Swimming Resource - Miles Self-Rescue

I'm a total nerd! I can't for the life of me figure out how to post this video. So you'll need to click on the above link--it's worth it and I think you'll be amazed. This video caught my attention because the little 11 month old's name is Miles. I guess to pass the class the kiddo has to float for 5 minutes. I'm not sure I could even do that. If I could find a place in Utah that provided these classes I would jump on it, but I'm not sure I should participate in the classes with my little peanut. I can't guarantee that I wouldn't jump in fully clothed to rescue the babies myself. Smart, but hard to watch.

Hey I had Aidan do these classes a couple of years ago. They were great! I just wish I had done them even younger! It's called walker swim kids. They teach the lessons at Dive Utah in Holiday. They are definetly pricey and a bit far for you but totally worth it!

Yep Teisha beat me to it. I was going to say the same thing.

I had the hardest time watching that. I can't believe a baby can do that. When regular diapers get wet in a pool, they weigh a TON! I don't know how a baby could hold themself up for that long with a heavy diaper on. It's amazing, but I was so upset watching it.

I've heard about these classes and I would have to say (coming from running swim classes hear in Idaho Falls) I would NEVER do those classes. I agree it's great to be able to teach your baby to float on their back . . . but what they have to go threw to get to that point . . . I would never do that to my kids. We have mommy and me swim classes for the babies and toddlers and I think these classes are the best way to go because they are learning water skills in a trusting and safe enviorment.

I don't think that I could ever do that... It's cool that they can teach babies how to do that, but I could no more watch my little Kenna get dunked under the water than fly. Mommy and me classes sound like the way to go for me!
