What an inspiration!

I often forget how cool my job is, but last night was one of those times I was reminded. A few months back I ran into the Mayor of Taylorsville City at a chamber meeting and after repeated emailing and back and forth phone calls, the Mayor wrote an editorial piece in the town’s newspaper about foster care. The article started out with imagining yourself during the holidays without a family. He then ended it with a quote from our foster dad of the year (who happens to reside in Taylorsville). The article was inspiring and it generated a few telephone calls, but what was even more inspiring was last night’s events. After writing this article, the Mayor wanted to honor Paul Jensen and his wife Nancy (who also happened to be voted foster mom of the year as well). The Mayor suggested that he honor them with a plaque in front of the city council. I had the opportunity to attend the meeting and take some pictures, but I was moved by the fact that when given the opportunity to speak after receiving the award, Paul Jensen spoke to the audience about the need for more foster parents. He proceeded to give an extremely self-less talk and behind my camera lens I got teary eyed. What an awesome family to care for so many children in need. I love my job!
