Pew Mexico?

When I imagine New Mexico, I picture us living in an adobe hut with absolutely no grass (rocks and sticks everywhere) and within an hours drive from basically all civilization. I must admit there is probably a lot of good things about New Mexico, but right now I seem to only find all of the gross and disgusting things about it online. With it being rated the 3rd most dangerous and crime ridden state in our nation it sort of scares me to think of raising my children there. Yep-- It's quite possible we're moving to PEW Mexico! Tim is there right now talking logistics with the folks at Sandia National Lab. I need some realistic and positive takes on NM because right now I can only envision me making dinner with red chilies every night (because that's the only food they have there, right?).
Do you think I'll have to purchase and hang a bull-horned-skull on my door to fit in with the neighbors?

On a side note-- I do hear they have an awesome balloon festival, but does that make up for the other 364 days of the year that doesn't have any awesomeness? I'm not sure it does!

Baffled

When did my little one get so big? Yesterday morning I watched this monkey scale the bathroom counter top. I know I should have stopped him but I just sat there watching him. First he conquered the toilet by pushing off of the tub and then he managed to pull himself up onto the bathroom counter top by gripping onto the faucet. I was seriously baffled by this. This kid can't even walk yet and he's already climbing on EVERYTHING (couch, coffee table, dogs and apparently counter-tops now). His favorite toy is his plastic slide, of which he climbs the ladder by himself and slides down on his stomach FACE FIRST! He has already endured three bloody mouths because he likes to do things by himself without help. This kid is so daring already. I thought I had a few more years to come to grips with this whole rambunctious boy thing, but apparently not. It's a good thing he's so dang cute! BTW-- what the heck do I do with all of his curls? Does being called a little girl on an hourly basis make it time to cut them? I sure hope not-- I'm not sure I can part with them.

I'm in love...

...with my little cracker jack, our friends, our family, our life...etc. We just got back from a weekend trip with some friends to Bear Lake and it couldn't have been any more fun. Cooking, eating, talking, relaxing, playing in the sand (cold sand) and watching movies. Despite Miles having a gnarly runny nose from teething and a persistent cough (for over a week now)-- I don't think it gets much better than that. When I download our trip photos I will post them up here. Until then, this picture from my sis' blog will have to suffice. Ohhhh I could just kiss those cheeks right off!

Moku (Meg's dog) and Miles chillin'

P.S.-- big news! Miles took his first steps up at the Cabin and everyone witnessed. By far the BEST moment of 2010.

Feeling much larger faster this time around.
