Pew Mexico?

When I imagine New Mexico, I picture us living in an adobe hut with absolutely no grass (rocks and sticks everywhere) and within an hours drive from basically all civilization. I must admit there is probably a lot of good things about New Mexico, but right now I seem to only find all of the gross and disgusting things about it online. With it being rated the 3rd most dangerous and crime ridden state in our nation it sort of scares me to think of raising my children there. Yep-- It's quite possible we're moving to PEW Mexico! Tim is there right now talking logistics with the folks at Sandia National Lab. I need some realistic and positive takes on NM because right now I can only envision me making dinner with red chilies every night (because that's the only food they have there, right?).
Do you think I'll have to purchase and hang a bull-horned-skull on my door to fit in with the neighbors?

On a side note-- I do hear they have an awesome balloon festival, but does that make up for the other 364 days of the year that doesn't have any awesomeness? I'm not sure it does!

When do you move??? And do you know which part of New Mexico??? We are really far East in Arizona, so it might be a not so far drive for us to hang out for a weekend sometime!

Nope not joining the Kirsten pity party. You'll have to keep it to Kirsten party of 1 1/2. Hee!

Oh please!!! I've had to deal with "Filthadelphia"! If I can handle the city with the largest murder rate in the country, you can handle New Mexico :) But, I am sorry - it sucks living in a place you don't like. I know you though, and you'll make the best of it. You'll have friends and a wonderful, happy life in no time!

UMMMMMM, are you for serious? New Mexico doesn't look fun at all. Good thing the First Annual Baby Parade is happening soon so we can talk about where to hang that ugly A** skull.

Congrats on moving on to your next phase in life. What an accomplishment. What a celebration. Your idea of New Mexico reminds me of how much I hate Idaho (today we woke up to 1 foot of snow and it's April 6th). New Mexico is a celebration of Tim and your's hard work. You have both labored for years so that Tim can get an increadible education so he can work in a field he loves. New Mexico symbolizes your success. I know you well enough to know that where ever you live you will embrace the culture, the people, and your suroundings with open arms and a smile. Even if you have the bull horns on your front door. Cheers to you guys . . . cheers to your wonderful husband. Love Ya, Liz.

Congrats on the job! Reed's sister lives in Albequerque. So, if that's where you're headed we can hook you up and she can give you some tips.

So I don't have much that is inspiration per se regarding New Mexico, but I do know that Julia Roberts lives there (granted it's a "40-acre, $2-$3 million ranch outside Taos, New Mexico near the community of Arroyo Seco", according to Google). And then I remember something about Oprah, "stars retreat", and more stars living there. :-) I think it sounds so exciting! Nothing like a new phase in life. Congrats to Tim for this huge accomplishment!
